Constructing an Outline for Critical Reflection

Constructing an Outline for Critical Reflection

Now, it is time to end off this journey of creating my creative portfolio magazine. I am tasked with analyzing the impact of my "media" and applying it to production based questions. I decided to make this blog as a blueprint to answer the four main questions of my critical reflection. Before I get into the questions, I've noticed a slideshow or interactive digital screencast like Prezi will allow me to creatively design and expand on my information without physically presenting.

To start off, the first question: "How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues?". In this section, I will introduce the professional magazines that inspired me and explain how I deviated or implemented from that. Delving into the color scheme, style, fonts, and every important "selling-point" element that makes up a magazine for each page of my portfolio will be necessary. For the second half of this question, I can explain the local target audience and overall theme of my magazine. It's important that I stress about the target audience's issues  and how this magazine would make them buy it based on the amount of representation.

Next, I need to discuss how my product engages with the target audience and how it would be distributed as a real media text. The first half of this question should really go into what I put in  my magazine to create my own brand and go further into the attraction elements to my audience. My target audience should be clarified and how they are being catered. Explaining how I would market my product via online, in stores, and on social media. However, the effectiveness of that marketing strategy and impact should be mentioned in this section.

The third question is "How did my production skills develop throughout the project?". This section will be where I explain what I learned throughout this course to create my portfolio, like typography or photography techniques. I should assess my growth in production from start to finish and mention any outside resources that may have aided my skills like Blogger and Canva.

The final question is to explain how I integrated technologies--software, hardware, and online,--in my production process. Now, I can go into depth about Canva and the type of resources it included inside to visually edit and set up my portfolio. The camera settings on my phone and a physical camera I use at home can be mentioned as well. Blogger which keeps track of my progress and Magzter which is a site where I found magazines will be introduced as the online resource.
