Gathering Inspiration to Finalize Table of Contents

Gathering Inspiration to Finalize Table of Contents

The time to complete and submit my final revised table of contents is nearby. The rough draft of my table of contents did exceptionally well, but I lacked the ability to define the clarification of my theme. So, I added a few things that resembled a photo album in my contents to make my page look more closely connected with the theme: memories. However, I found that I was not really enjoying the outline/design of my contents page. Therefore, I will dedicate this blog to going in an extensive analysis of the techniques/advanced copy that will help influence me for my work in the future.

The professional magazine on the right, GQ, strays away from a non conventional content page, yet makes the page visually appealing. I can tell the theme may be about global impacts or situations, but the main photo on this page is the actor, Michael Fassbender. I love how the content is divided into captions for the photos alongside very enlarged page numbers indicating what goes where. Furthermore, I also like how the subheadings are bolded and not too long. There isn't too much description thrown at the audience on this page and overall looks like a simple/advanced way to introduce the content of a magazine. This page inspires me to design my layout similarly to this or utilize the sizing/images so that it sticks out.

For the next content page on the left, I love how the title is contrast and sticks out. Another thing that captivates me is the way the contents are categorized with mini subtitles in red. That is extremely useful for my contents page as I will be featuring at least two or three subjects in my page. I do believe that this page lacks photos unlike the above, however, the contents page looks easier to read and organized. Again, this table of contents bolds the headlines and following page numbers that directs the reader to which page it'll be on. I can defintely take advice from the organization of the subtitles or the nice quality of creativity with photos.

By taking note of these techniques used by professional magazines, I am able to relay the content/information I assessed and recreate it back into something special of my own. To improve my table of contents for its final revision, I'll look over the design and the layout as a main priority. I will definitely keep the enlarged page numbers next to the images as that is a common table of contents element. Organization of my contents and use of typography could benefit the quality of my contents for its final revision.
