Completing my Contents Page for Final Revision

Similarily to the double-page spread, I struggled with the visuals and design of my table of contents page. The information and the visuals are all fine, yet I was not showing correlation to the main idea of my magazine theme: memories. A few days of experimenting with inspiration and my knowledge based on media, and finally I was ready to submit my contents page.

I decided to make my heading "Contents: Map of Memories" instead of just a table of contents, so that my work wouldn't look lackluster. Also, I took it upon myself to create a mini subhead that basically explained my theme in short words under the big heading. Now, the point of the magazine will be obvious even if the design of the page isn't subpar to the actual meaning I want to convey. Another typography edit that I made was curving the photo album, so that it would look interesting and wrap over the featured/upcoming visuals in the magazine. I also intentionally made sure that certain buzzwords like "memories" "moments" "nostalgia" were spread out and not repeatedly used in the same area, despite them having the same meaning.

Next, I focused on coloring my page. I color dropped my double-page spread which still follows the color scheme of my overall magazine. I made this dark to light gradient for my informational page on the right of my contents page. I like how it contrasts with the dark purple background and it makes my page look more interesting. I also made some of the subheads that preview each page different shades of pink and blue to again look visually appealing.

The last touch up that I did was add a background full of stars. I often felt that the background of my contents page was so boring, so I was struggling with deciding a background for it. Then, the idea of symbols that relate to nostalagia appeared in my mind. Stars, clouds, hourglasses, cameras, and so much more were representatives of the theme of my page. That is why my contents page consisted of a purplish gradient sky full of bright stars, effectively contributing to the dreamy and hopeful concept.

Overall, I have high hopes for this revision even if it doesn't look entirely different. I think the littlest changes will go a longer way and convey what I want to say to the audience.
