Organizing my Table of Contents Rough Draft
Organizing my Table of Contents Rough Draft
This blog is a quick visual of what I might do for my table of contents. I feel as if there is a lot on my plate as I have to fix the double-page spread and that is why the rough draft is unfinished. However, I do know that I want to keep a consistent color scheme of pink, purple, and white. I am still unsure about the categories and content, but I definitely want a stories section where people share their memories. I might make the section below the stories, one that has an interesting information based on the topic of memories or incorporate one of my coverlids from the magazine cover. The last section at the very bottom on the left is what I've seen referenced in the Good Old Days or Reminisce magazine: a special additive in every issue. I am envisioning a page in the back of a book that has a quiz set in the time period of 2012 since that is 12 years from now and it is on my magazine cover, signifying an era of nostalgia.
Now for the right of the page, I am unsure on whether I should keep it white or make it black with a design. I really do like the idea of cut-out photo frames on the side because it reminds me of photos from a memory book. To get rid of some white space, I might add designs or the title of the magazine in the corner and a page number as well. I also took the chance to review past table of contents from other candidates and I saw that an effective technique was putting the number in the contents directly over the picture. This helps the reader know where each photo comes from and it just makes the design look neat.
I am going to take the chance to review the table of contents from the pros as I believe I need a bit more guidance. This seems like an easy process as it is a contents page, yet again, design is very important. The page needs to make sense and correlate as soon as the reader lays their eyes on the page. Overall, this is how my table of contents is structured for now, so that I can critique and perfect it over the weekend.
