Contemplating my Rough Draft Picture with Canva
Memories is the idea that I am deciding on for my theme. This theme does require a lot of consideration especially when it comes to designing your own rough draft magazine cover. Memories can be classified as a very comprehensive theme, even though I'm narrowing it down to core memories that people grow into that makes them who they are today. I do know that the color scheme should look vintage and with bright colors that look washed out. Yet, the bigger issue is what picture should be the center focus of my magazine.
There are various ideas that fill my imagination to create the cover of my page. To structure my original pictures on the cover: I could do a collage of photos or photo booth strips. Consequently, I would have to take a bunch of photos during the week or find old photos. I could even make it a single event like how I create the Christmas cover as a sample. What I meant by a "single event" is an event that can be life-changing like a child's dance recital, or a birthday party, a date, a school field trip, etc. Then, that event could be the background image and become the main focus instead of having multiple pictures plastered around the cover. Depending on that event, I can incorporate a puff on the side that reveals a sneak peek or a discount.
I kind of leaned towards the photo strip structured cover photo. I am still interested in just keeping the cover a picture of one event, but it would take some time to figure out what original photo I want. Overall, this process of creating a cover takes so much time because my theme is so wide ranged. After figuring out this cover picture, I must carry on with creating coverlines, a working header, and etc.
I used Canva to create a representation in my head. All I did was find a table and set it as the background. Then, I searched in the "elements" section to find photo booth strips and I added random nostalgic photos in each box.
